Things to Do

The roar of the ocean serves as the soundtrack to days out on the course at Pacific Grove Golf Links, an 18-hole waterfront course with breathtaking views. Fog rolling off the water’s surface and steep sand dunes create delightfully challenging gameplay. After a game, head to the clubhouse bistro, which provides an elegant backdrop for post-game lunches.

Perched on the northernmost tip of the Monterey Peninsula, Point Pinos Lighthouse is California’s oldest lighthouse. Built in 1855, this historic landmark guided sailors to safety and now invites locals to tour the picturesque grounds and explore the lighthouse, which has been transformed into a museum.

Groves of eucalyptus and cypress trees make a lovely home for butterflies at the Monarch Butterfly Sanctuary, Pacific Grove’s most whimsical spot. A sea of technicolor wings flutter through the majestic surroundings. Visitors can tour the sanctuary starting in October.

The coastal beauty of Pacific Grove is unmatched, and no other place exemplifies the romantic, wild terrain quite like Lovers Point. Moss and exotic flowers climb the rocks of the rugged shore, and cypress trees stand watch over the idyllic scene. Across the peninsula from Lovers Point, Asilomar State Beach unfurls in coastal splendor, with rocky coves and sandy beaches.
